De 19-jarige Tia Kabir komt uit Australië en is werkzaam als influencer. Op TikTok heeft ze aan haar 90.000 volgers verteld hoe verdrietig ze was nadat haar tattooartiest in Bali op het laatste moment besloten had het design te veranderen zonder haar toestemming. Ze keek enorm uit naar deze ‘droom tattoo’. Het was de bedoeling dat er Angel Energy zou staan op haar rechter bovenarm. “So I came to Bali to get a tattoo, right, and I’ve been dreaming to get this tattoo because I just don’t get tattoos all the time. I get one every few months, and it’s supposed to say ‘Angel Energy’, and now it just says ‘Energy Angel’.”

Veel van haar volgers vinden het apart omdat je meestal van tevoren eerst naar het ontwerp kijkt dat op jouw huid is geplakt voordat je je laat tatoeëren.“You’re meant to check it before they start, so this is not the tattooist’s fault you should check any work before you let them start”, reageert een van de volgers.

Vervolgens reageerde de influencer dat de artiest het juiste ontwerp had gemaakt, maar het bleek een beetje te groot te zijn voor haar arm nadat de artiest het papiertje er al op had geplakt. “So after they made it a tiny bit smaller, somehow it flipped around saying ‘Energy Angel’ but I didn’t notice. It was only after it was done that I checked it. It put me into shock.” Nadat ze de tattoo had gezien, begon ze direct met huilen. “Even the staff were laughing and talking in their local language which brought me to tears. After asking reception what could be done the best I was told is that it has a different meaning and that the English is the other way around.”
